LEBANON - Prosecutors and defense lawyers in the Ryan Widmer murder retrial both warned jurors Wednesday to steer away from the other side's "invitation to speculate." But that was virtually the only point of agreement. Their opening remarks were delivered Wednesday to a newly seated jury in Warren County Common Pleas Court shortly after jurors returned from a visit to the Hamilton Township home where Widmer and his new wife, Sarah, 24, lived at the time of her drowning in August 2008. The jurors also heard a recording of Widmer's call to 911 and testimony from the first-arriving police officer, Warren County Sheriff's deputy Steve Bishop, who said Widmer's demeanor seemed a bit odd - and it didn't make sense that the drowning scene was virtually dry. But Bishop said he was focused on trying to perform CPR on Sarah and save her life. Story by Janice Morse of the Cincinnati Enquirer - read the entire story on Cincinnati.com [click here]
